home made supper

Author: JT   |  Jul 6th, 2008
Category: daily.2cents.worth

was actually quite full after the meal at mcdonalds but got hungry around 9+pm so decided to raid the fridge.

only found leftovers but at least they are better than nothing.

fresh from the fridge, noodles and some sauce with pork and seafood

overkill of hotdogs but i just love them!

my meal tray, been using it for years!

tada! my home cooked supper!

sigh, must start dieting after this meal…

blading…after a year

Author: JT   |  Jul 5th, 2008
Category: iNLine., spAce.Jam

been wanting to pickup blading again but couldn’t cause of my bad leg…and now that my leg’s finally making some progress, i decided to head down to east coast park for a relaxed blading session.

couldn’t find my old blading kakis to come along so i asked a few random people, victor, an ex-colleague from sun microsystems and his friend as well as an internet friend, hengyu.

bladed from mcdonalds to the safra chalet and back, was going at a rather slow speed cause hengyu couldn’t keep up with the rest of us. the journey back was even slower and to make things worst, hengyu fell down along the way and had a bloody knee. the wound was so bad blood dripped all over his socks and boots. luckily we were already near the place he rented the blades from so got him to take the blades off and go wash off the wound while i returned his blades for him.

i’ve never got the chance to rent one of these chalets but i think they’re huge!

the track used to stop at the chalet but i noticed a new track leading somewhere else, wanted to try the new track but hengyu was quite reluctant to so i decided to leave the exploring to another day when i come with better bladers.

victor and his friend was in a rush to go off somewhere so hengyu and myself went to mcdonalds for a quick bite before going home.

somehow i get a feeling all the exercise was for nothing.

since i had nowhere else to go, i took a rather expensive cab home.

my office

Author: JT   |  Jul 5th, 2008

had practically nothing to do in office today so walked around with my co-worker snapping pictues

here’s charlie, my co-worker from vietnam, pictures taken at our hidden smoking corner at the new office’s construction site

bangala hideout! i really can’t imagine how 10 workers can squeeze into this small hut.

the back staircase, seldom used cause it’s dirty and dusty but i think they are going to renovate it since the new office wing uses this staircase.

the higher part of the old staircase, the door on the right leads to my present office and the door on the left leads to my new office

the new office, ready (hopefully) in early august. this new office will only hold 2 divisions, the water maker division, concept 520 and my division, neublick.

here’s my future room!
the original design for the partition was actually made of all glass but it turned out this way  -.-”

my current desk, this desk is actually shared by charlie and myself, that explains the 2 laptops.

this is my neighbour in the current office, sales manager for the water making division, concept 520.

the whole office’s in a mess cause of the renovation, really praying for the new office wing to be up asap.

shopping spree, part III

Author: JT   |  Jul 4th, 2008
Category: daily.2cents.worth

got a lift from trond to orchard after work, supposed to meet shah for shopping session at 6.30pm.

was caught in a jam along the expressway so only manage to get there around 6.45pm, shah just left office.

decided to start shopping by myself and went to muji to pick up the stuffs i wanted. somehow, i’m always fascinated with the stuffs they sell at muji, everything seem so simple but yet nice and elegant.

bought 2 booklets to store name cards, 4 name card holders for each of the neublick staff, 1 notebook for meetings & a small file to carry everything in.

my muji goodie bag!

muji collection for the day

finished buying my stuffs from muji at 7.20pm, still no sign of shah.

went down to have a smoke break before going up to metro to look at wallets, been wanting to get a new wallet since my timberland was in bad shape but can’t decide if i should get from mont blanc or braun buffel.

did a mental note on the design that i wanted before going down to the mont blanc boutique to look at their wallets.

time check 7.45pm, no sign of shah

found a design from mont blanc that i really like, it has everything that i want (photo pocket & coin pouch) but got a shock from i saw the price tag, $405.

i don’t really remember mont blanc wallets being so expensive cause the last time i was looking through their wallets, i got the impression that they were around $200-$300.

i don’t think i can afford a $400+ wallet at this point of time especially when my wife is coming at the end of the month so decided on the cheaper braun buffel which cost $123.

time check 8.05pm, no sign of shah

decided to give shah a call…he just left the office, again!

wtf!

went for another smoke break before going up to metro to get the wallet i wanted,

time check 8.15pm, shah called to say he’s trapped in a jam along robinson road.

1 hour 15 minutes of waiting and that idiot’s still not here yet!

decided to move my stuffs from the old wallet to the new wallet since i had nothing to do but couldn’t find a seat so i did it in the toilet, away from all the preying eyes.

shah finally arrived at 8.45pm after 2 hours 15 minutes of waiting…

went to look at some watches before meeting shah’s father who’s teaching in a nearby mosque. had dinner/supper at some 24 hours place in yishun before sending his dad home.

wanted to catch a movie but shah was tired so he sent me home after that since he was driving and also to make up for being late for over 2 hours.

somehow i felt meeting up with shah today was very weird, oh well…

shopping spree, part II

Author: JT   |  Jul 4th, 2008
Category: daily.2cents.worth

went to jurong point for lunch and ended up at crystal jade again.

the last time i was there for lunch, i dropped my 6 month old sony cybershot t-100 and now that i’m there again for lunch, i decided to get a new camera for myself.

sony’s cybershot t-300 was my first choice, love the design, love the sleekness, love the huge lcd panel, love the touchscreen functions but the photo quality was rather poor. the price was also lowered to $599 by $100 since it was launched which could mean a new model is on its way anytime soon.

my next choice was the titanium plated cybershot w-300. at 13.6 mega pixel, it’s an overkill even for me but i love the feel of the camera, light yet solid and the design is nice too. a little high on the price at $799 but comes with a free cheapo photo printer.

last on my list was the canon 960is which also has a titanium body. design is nothing comparable to the 2 sony cybershots but the pictures were top notch.

after much consideration, i decided to go for the canon ixus, photo quality should be placed above camera design.

here’s a picture of it

at $699, the package comes with 2×4gb sd card, 2 batteries, 1 screen protector, 1 photo printer (worth $250), 1 free casing, 1 free usb memory card reader and a travel kit that contains a travel bag, a tripod and a cleaning kit.

i’ve actually no use for the printer so i sold it off to a colleague at $100 which means i only paid $499 for the camera.

worth it!

reunion dinner

Author: JT   |  Jul 4th, 2008
Category: daily.2cents.worth

picked up my new citibank credit cards from jurong point before meeting up with my secondary school classmates from hong kah for a small reunion dinner, actually it can’t be considered a reunion since only 5 of us attended but it could also be due to the reason that we only called 5 people.

went to the japanese buffet in sunset way but we ended up talking more than eating. stayed there for over 2 hours before walking all the way back to clementi mrt only to take cab from there.

it was a nice gathering, all 5 of us were great friends in secondary school and it’s nice to catch up with one another.

sadly to say, time flies when we are the happiest and it was soon time to part again knowing fully well that the next meet up with be years later.

it was my treat for the day and although it was rather costly, i think it was worth it!

no photos thought, we were too engrossed in talking and eating that we forgot all about snapping some photos for keepsake.

journey to the east

have a presentation with sandvik, a large european company making tools among other businesses, in the early morning so we decided to meet in orchard instead of office.

charlie was late so trond and i decided to go for breakfast at delifrance, ngee ann city before going down to sandvik.

sandvik has their own building, right smack in the middle of nowhere in changi near the saf ferry terminal, took us almost 30 minutes to reach the area and another 45 minutes turning round and round looking for the building.

i must say the presentation went quite well, better than nokia’s in fact…

didn’t pin much hope for this presentation actually but they were actually in favour of getting the screens from us…in a large quantity!

the higher the expectation, the greater the disappointment

with that in mind, i shall go for all future presentations with a half heart!

-

it was already lunch when we were done so decided to have a good lunch to celebrate, decided to go aston’s for some steak but lost our way and took us nearly another hour to reach there.

ordered some good quality steak (i forgot the name of it) and made the biggest mistake of my entire eating life.

i can’t stand the sight of bloody meat so i always have my steaks well done but because trond was ordering the same thing as me, i just told the waiter “the same” without knowing that trond has ordered his steak medium raw (or is it rare?).

almost died when i started cutting up the steak…blood was flowing out from the steak!

this is not the actual picture, i got this from google.

anyway, the steak tasted good but i just can’t stand the sight of the blood…must must must must remember to order my steaks well done from now on.

it was trond’s treat for the day so many thanks to trond!
