2 torrent sites down

Author: JT   |  Apr 12th, 2008

it’s been a long time since i did any search for torrents (besides animes where i have other webbies for it) and when i did do a search today, i came to realise that 2 of my favourite torrent sites have closed down.

my all time favourite, torrentspy.com

and the super popular site, isohunt.com (they weren’t really closed, it was just a temporary downtime)

isoHunt is Sick

Everyone wants a piece of isoHunt. Ya, all the good torrents you can get. Do a search and all the torrents are neatly presented with cute little dropdown details in an animated, expanding box. But does anyone care about our feelings? Ever since me and my brothers are born in Chinese factories, we’ve done nothing but to slice and dice your search requests, look them up in databases and indexes, and spit out pretty HTML pages. It’s a boring and thankless job. Your relentless search queries have overworked us and now Bob is sick. He won’t cough up data anymore, I’m not sure why. I’m sure the engineers are on their way to fix him up, but won’t you stop hitting the Refresh button so often? You know, I like the attention that we are getting now, but somehow I think you care more about those pretty HTML pages we normally hand out than about us. Oh well, I suppose that’s why we were created, our meaning of life being serving data and cruching numbers. But just remember us once in a while ok? Us magical fairies who finds what you seek?

We should be back in action soon. Until then, I heard the guys at Google does a pretty good job with searching for stuff too (not as good as us, of course). If you are here to search for the meaning of life, the universe and everything however, we’ll need a much much larger upgrade to calculate that. You’ll have to come back in at least a few million years and try again.

Sincerely,
Your faithful web serving minions

buffet + supper

Author: JT   |  Apr 12th, 2008

both trond and myself were undecided on what to eat so we decided to go down to imm and pick something from there.

also got my hands on a pack of cigarettes, i forgot to buy during lunch time and i ran out by 2pm…it was then almost 8pm.

as usual, imm’s carpark was crazily full due to free parking for the first 3 hours but we still managed to find a lot on the highest floor which was a open space carpark.

it was trond’s treat today and since he picked the place (imm), i’ll have to pick the restaurant and so i settled on hoshi, a japanese restaurant on the 3rd floor.

i’ve been there for steamboat buffet with collin (koh) sometime back but never actually tried the ala cart buffet, and since it was already late, we had only 1 hour to eat.

food variety isn’t a lot compared to other places but the quality wasn’t too bad and they serve the food fast too.

the sashimi was rather fresh (minus the tuna and yellow tail) and i just love the california roll and tempura sushis.

we were sitting on a 6-men table but we mass ordered so fast till the whole table was filled.

by the time we were done, we were both so stuffed that we could hardly move.

left my camera in the car so had to take the pictures with my iphone.

didn’t take many pictures as we were both staved so we attacked the food once they arrived.

what you see on the table above is actually the food we ordered for the second round.

and the bill came up to a whopping $98.00 !

kinda pai seh for trond to treat such an expensive meal, i think i’ll just cancel off the other meal he owes me at mortons.

hahaha!

thanks trond!

and here are some pictures i took on my “last” day of work at his office, click for more information.

the office building…

parking lot reserved for trond\'s dad\'s slk !

1st floor office + server “room”

alright, that almost sums up everything…here’s a last picture of my “desk” cum “server room” for the 2 days.

didn’t manage to get a picture of the tidbits cupboard cause i took the pictures after office hours and someone locked it.

just in case anyone gets the idea that i’m putting down trond’s company with the pictures, i’m definitely not!

although the place and equipment are rather old but do they really matter?

the people there are fast and efficient workers, even more efficient than people i’ve seen in microsoft or sun microsystems,

they really work well in a team and i’m rather awed by trond’s dad, he singlehandedly started the business and brought it up until what it is today,

and most of his businesses are so diversified that you don’t see any links between the sub companies.

they have devisions doing maritime equipments, bearings, outdoor lcd panels, water filtration systems, fitness stuffs and loads more,

and the whole company with its sub devisions are only run by merely 30 people.

salute!

almost forgot about the supper part…

trond drove me down to taman jurong after dinner to meet colin (low) and aaron for supper.

of course i didn’t eat anything, i was still stuffed!

chatted a bit before taking the last bus home,

aaron’s having exams today so…

******

lol!
