new year resolutions gone?

Author: JT   |  Apr 29th, 2008

i just realised i lost my new year resolutions…

it was supposed to be on a separate text widget but it somehow disappeared on its own.

i know it’s hard but does anyone have a copy of my new year resolutions in their history or something?

i think it probably got lost when i upgraded my wordpress from 2.3 to 2.5,

-

also changed and added in a few items on my wishlist…

upgrade to vista or wait for windows7?

Author: JT   |  Apr 29th, 2008

been thinking of this for sometime already but yet to decide on an answer…

i’ve got licenses for vista business/ultimate on hand but do i really want/need to upgrade to vista?

certainly my computer can handle vista since i build it for vista but just remembering the problems i had when i first installed vista is enough to give me a headache.

now that i’ve installed the last service pack available for windows xp, service pack 3, is it the end of the road for xp?

i’ve always been a faithful fan of uncle gates, changing to whatever new operating systems they come up with, sometimes even before they release the official release.

being faithful has nothing to do with being an idiot spending few hundred on operating systems…

and now that i’ve decided to move to mac when apple decides to release their new macbook pros, do i really need to upgrade my home pc to vista when i’m very comfortable with xp.

do i really need to spend that 1-2 days sitting down fixing whatever bugs there is in vista and hope everything works perfectly fine.

or should i just skip vista, screw the support (i doubt i need the support anyway) and upgrade to windows7 when it launches in a few years time.

or will uncle gates decide that windows7 will need more time than expected, like vista, and release it only half a decade later?

i foresee myself on my laptop more than on my home computer once work starts probably in mid june or in july and i can always install vista on my laptop as an alternative if i really need to use windows…

so should i upgrade my computer to vista at this moment?

i think my answer’s clear…

i shall wait for windows7.

or i might even buy a imac as my next home computer if i really come to love it.

a day of bordom

didn’t do anything much today except cooked a big-ass bowl of noodles for lunch,

well, not for lunch actually but for both lunch and dinner…

ran out of can food since my maid isn’t around to buy them and i was too lazy to walk out to buy food so i decided to make do with whatever i can find in the fridge.

and it actually turned out well, forgot to take a picture of it since i was too darn hungry to.

watched a couple of movies i downloaded and a few reruns of bleach and that’s about everything i did for today,

was too hot to go anywhere and didn’t have the mood either, my leg’s giving problems again and i hope the pain will go away soon.

trond sms-ed me from shanghai asking me for help tomorrow, there were some issues with the server in his office and there wasn’t anyone around to help him.

but as of now, he has yet to message me back on what was wrong, what i needed to fix, what time i was needed in office and what the passwords were for the server.

he’s probably occupied with his girlfriend so i shall not bother him too much, hopefully he’ll be reply me soon or else i have this feeling i’ll have a late night tonight.

also wanted to go for a swim today but couldn’t find anyone free to go with me…

i probably should pick up the habit of going alone but just can’t seem to get myself out of the house,

maybe tomorrow after fixing trond’s servers.

Peugeot 207cc it is

Author: JT   |  Apr 29th, 2008

was feeling bored at home and surfing around for cars when my cousin, zhiyuan, msn-ed me.

we started talking about cars and he was soon on his way over to pick me up to go car viewing.

i actually didn’t know he changed his 2 year old toyota ist for a peugeot 207cc 6 months ago, i’ll talk more about it later.

our first stop was the mini showroom and we ended up spending probably an hour there just drooling over the mini s cooper, it was seriously love at first sight but the price was just too steep for me.

a stock mini s cooper would cost around $129 000 and knowing myself, i’ll probably soup it up which will total up to about $150 000.

it was way beyond my budget but i’m still not putting the car out of my sight as yet…probably just hoping for a miracle.

next stop was volkswagens, wanted to check out the golf gt/gti, the passat and the jetta which yiteng had recommended.

the golf gt’s within my budget but it doesn’t come with the 3 door version and the gti’s around the price of a stock mini so it was a no go as well.

i love the passat but with the v6 engine, the car will probably drink more petrol than me drinking water. the jetta is just not me so i didn’t really look much into it.

mitsubishi was next and i swear if i ever wanted to buy a mitsubishi car, i will never buy it from the direct distributor.

the showroom was practically empty and there were at least 5-6 sales executive around but non came to serve us, we even had to walk up to them to ask for a price list.

with this kinda service, who the hell will buy from them when i can get the same models from parallel importers and at a discounted price.

was actually considering the lancer ex gt 2.0 but the gearbox used was notorious in the market for defects so decided to strike it off as one of my choices.

another model on my list was the colt 1.5 mivec turbo charged but didn’t get to see it in the showroom. i strike it off my list anyway since it was using the same gearbox as the lancer ex.

honda’s showroom was next but we probably spent just 10 minutes there…there were really no cars there that i was interested in, not the civic for sure, not the accord, not the jazz, nothing!

peugeot and ford were next (they were in the same building) but i’ll talk about the ford mondeo first.

another car in my list but this is a 2.3 liter car and upon a closer look, i still think it’s a nice and great car but just isn’t me. it’s too uncle-ish…lol!

i actually had nothing in peugeot that interest me but after sitting in zhiyuan’s car, i started really liking it.

spoke the salesman and he told me something that zhiyuan told him when he bought his car…it was something like

“it’s not all the time that we can buy a convertible car due to family restrains or other issues like having kids around”

it’s rather true, both my cousin and i are nearing 30 and our next car will probably be family car so this is the only time we have left to really pick something out of the ordinary.

and at $105 000, it’s still pretty much around my budget.

the only 2 problems i foresee will be…

1) to get my mom to agree with it

2) i only like the car in red and my cousin’s car is red too

oh well, it isn’t till the 3rd quarter this year that i can buy it so there’s still plenty of room for discussion but for now, my mind’s made up…

peugeot 207cc it is.
