slept right into the afternoon and saw a huge note that my mom has pasted on my door.

“call me when you wake up”

called my mom and she wanted me to go down to orchard to meet her and my maid for lunch as well as to do some shopping. there wasn’t anything i really wanted to buy except for a new watch and a new wallet…and maybe a new pen from mont blanc.

took my time to dress up and took a bus down to tangs, was quite hungry so got quite impatient while my mom and maid tried on shoes pairs after pairs.

managed to tear them away from the shoe department and went over to wisma’s food republic for lunch. wanted to actually had lunch at the japanese restaurant that i’ve been to sometime back but realised that the restaurant is gone due to the upgrading works.

went over to takashimaya, checked out the tag heuer boutique and ended up buying my first item during this great singapore sale.

i’ve actually been whining over buying it but never really got to really buying it until now.

yeap, that’s the watch i bought…

tag heuer grand carerra, black face with metal strap.

not gonna tell you guys how much i bought it for since i got quite a good discount for it but the retail price starts at $8600.

left my old watch at the boutique for repairs, i can probably still use that old watch when i go sentosa or blading.

since i have badminton at 7 later, i decided to take a bus back while my mom and maid carry on their shopping.

-

the renault salesman called up and told me that the yellow convertible that i wanted was on discount and it was like a 10k discount. told my mom about it and we’ll be going down to see the car on tuesday.

there’s a rare chance but i just might get my car before i get my license.

praying hard for it.

p/s: dearest mr low, you’ll probably still say i should get the civic but if i really do get the yellow renault, i promise i’ll come pick you up from the airport when you come back to singapore.

shopping saturday

Author: JT   |  Jun 14th, 2008

as it turns out, i didn’t get to leave at 12.30pm as i intended to, i ended up leaving the place at 1pm.

better than nothing right?

went for lunch opposite saftimi, wanted to try the pasta but it was closed so i settled for the curry rice. after spending almost 2 years in saftimi during my younger days and having eaten at the coffeeshop there countless times, i’ve never actually tried the curry rice although everyone tells me it’s good.

and it was really good! the curry was thick and the flavour wasn’t too overwhelming, it was just right.

went back home after lunch and went to bed almost immediately, was just too tired to do anything else.

woke up again at 6pm and decided to accompany my mom for some grocery shopping at bukit timah and also to have dinner.

went to this restaurant that i frequently visited when i was young and had a pot of claypot chicken rice and chef salad. the claypot chicken tasted the same as when i last had it more than 10 years ago.

although i love the food there then, i somehow didn’t quite like it now after so many years…i guess my taste buds has improved after all these years and yearn for better food.

went wild shopping at the high class ntuc there and went home with countless bags.

planned to actually blog at night but was too engrossed in battlestations so that explains the delay in this post.

better late than never right?

europe, japan or china?

Author: JT   |  May 31st, 2008

slept at almost 5am yesterday and wanted to sleep in but woke up suddenly around 10am and couldn’t get back to sleep.

the private maple server was still down so laze around watching animes until around 1pm, had lunch at home and carried on watching animes.

was supposed to meet my mom at 4pm at her office then go visit a few travel agencies but fell asleep while watching animes until around 5pm.

rushed to people’s park and went to 3 different travel agencies but couldn’t really make up our minds on where we wanted to go.

japan was our first choice and they had 2 different places, tokyo/osaka or hokkaido. i’ve already been to tokyo/osaka when i was younger and the places of interest like disney land and temples just didn’t suit us well. hokkaido on the other hand wasn’t a good time since the cherry blossoms were in may and the lavenders didn’t bloom till late july.

europe was rather fully booked and the only slot we had left was a 10 day trip to italy/france/switzerland. it says 10 days but we’re leaving on the first day’s 11.55pm flight so theoretically speaking, it’s only a 9 day trip which will cost up to 3300 per pax.

not really worth it i think, for that money, i rather pay a bit more and spend more time there maybe like a 14 or 21 day trip.

the next alternative was to go back to china again, guangzhou and hongkong. guangzhou to visit our relatives and hongkong for the great hongkong sale in june.

brought back a stack of pamphlets but still unsure of which destination to go.

wanted to go down to cityhall for dinner and to look at the watch i wanted to get but the carpark was full and the queue leading to the carpark was crazy so decided to come another day.

went to holland village for dinner instead, hate noodles and xiao long bao at crystal jade. the noodles were too salty and the xiao long bao were just not that great.

went home after that, played a little maple and leveled up 5 times before coming downstairs with my laptop for a smoke break as well as to blog, i just can’t seem to blog at home on my computer.

wanted to go out but couldn’t find anyone free, the only one free was aaron but he was tired after his stay at raffles hotel and wanted to go back to sleep.

-

tried setting up the private maple server but got lazy 1/2 way and will probably do it tomorrow or something.

-

still can’t decide what watch to get, the tag heuer kirum series that i wanted was no longer in production but there were still stock in a few certain shops. the other i wanted was the tag heuer grand carrera which cost almost triple the kirium.

oh well, i’ll leave it to fate. i’m probably fine with any of them.

wii & my mom

Author: JT   |  Apr 1st, 2008

mom “requested” that i fix up the wii asap as she wanted to try out the games…

the first thing she wanted to play was “dance dance revolution” on the dance pad.

and then, for the first time in my entire life, i saw my mom acting like a lunatic.

i don’t mind looking at the ah lians playing the same in the arcades but this was a whole different sight!

for the 15 minutes that she and my maid played, so much noise (screams, shouts, laughter) was produced that my neighbour actually knocked on the door asking if everything was alright.

i’m dead serious!

she was still playing 30 minutes later when i left home to meet up with colin and aaron.

anyway i’m kinda happy for her, it has been sometime since she was really happy and laughing like this.

and so for now, 3 cheers to the wii!

tomorrow’s a great day

Author: JT   |  Mar 31st, 2008

tomorrow’s (or rather, later) will be a good day!

even cancelled my driving practical just for it.

i’m going shopping with my mom in jb!

and of course, i’ll be finally getting my wii our wii!

will blog again when i return from my trip tomorrow.

till then…

well, not quite what i had in mind…

the one i wanted was from tiffany & co, this is from taka jewellery.

my mom passed it to me so i’m not sure how much it cost, probably at some super discounted price.

mom wants to watch leap years

Author: JT   |  Mar 17th, 2008

will wonders never cease!

my mom sms-ed me asking me if leap years was still showing in cinemas…

i think the last time she has been to the movies was before i was born, that’s if she has ever gone to a cinema.

somehow i can’t picture her watching that show,

and no way am i gonna watch that show again with her.

maybe my maid can go watch it with her.

or maybe not.

//update//

offered to buy her a pair of tickets tomorrow to watch in jurong point and this is what i got…

“no lah boy, i just kidding only!”

yar right!

super keh siao !!

another monday…

Author: JT   |  Mar 17th, 2008

yeah it’s monday…

another week older, sigh

another week gone,

another week wasted,

another week doing nothing,

another week waiting for my legs to recover.

how exciting!

duh…

was supposed to pay a visit to my aunt’s specialist for my legs but she couldn’t make it so didn’t go,

but yet i woke up damn early, mom was bitching about the long queue for resetting the singpass so didn’t give any excuses for sleeping later just in case her mamapause comes back.

turns out there was no queue at all, got my singpass within 5 minutes and went to uob to open the cpf investment account.

again no queue and managed to get the account opened within 10 minutes…

the guy serving me was more interested in my iphone than doing his paperwork, bah!

couldn’t decided what to have to breakfast/lunch, skipped 3 coffee shops cause the food wasn’t to my liking, my mom refused to have kfc and long john silver and delifrance were still serving breakfast so we settled for the food court at jurong entertainment center.

all of us (including my maid) had yong tao hu which tasted rather awful and ice kachang to wash it down.

went for a shopping spree at the nearby ntuc and ended buying loads of stuffs…

wanted to go down to chai chee to visit the other chinese sinseh that one of my readers have recommended but my maid commented that the princess at home was going to be hungry so that was no go,

welcome to my world, where my dog has priority over me, a living human.

and so my adventures of the day ended.

spent the rest of the day installing the webtorrent which still can’t work and slept the rest of it off.

sleeping is good for recovering, someone once said…

somehow i’ve been using that lame excuse far too many times of recent.

-

mom also commented about moving house, i actually lost count how many times she mentioned it but never got to the point of really looking for another place.

she suggested lake point condo, which i have visited before many years back.

it’s old (finished building in 1983) but the apartments there are rather huge…we’re talking about 2000 to 3000 square feet.

price was somehow cheaper than the newer condos around the area and i rather like the place, being huge and very near to the mrt station…and of course a swimming pool!

i love swimming!

oh well, let’s hope it will really happen this time.

-

also commented about looking for a new job and her mamapause reached level 5, she wants me to concentrate on my studies for the rest of the year but when i asked if she was going to pay for all my bills, i could almost enjoy the 5 minutes of golden silence.

-

finally started sending out my resumes, actually only to 1 company…starhub.

colin found a job opening in the fraud department and told me to give it a try,

being blur from waking up from my afternoon nap, i simply clicked “email to a friend” and keyed in my own email address and sent the resume to myself.

duh!

luckily colin wasn’t daydreaming when i mentioned “i’ve email them my resume” and he told me there wasn’t any email address to send my resume to.

oh well, at least it’s over now.

i’m still praying hard for the 8toinfinity job but only time will tell if i get it, hopes aren’t that high anymore.

-

and here i am now, at my void deck blogging from my laptop waiting for time to pass me by…

yet another monday has passed,

rather exciting one, don’t you agree?

mamapause

Author: JT   |  Mar 12th, 2008

i think my mom has menopause…

asked her to bring me out to the nearby uob branch today to open an account for my cpf investment and she started blabbing away like there’s no tomorrow.

what started out as a little nagging,

went into a full fledge nagging,

became a scolding,

got angry and started throwing her temper around.

and all i said was "hi mom, you free? can drive me to the nearby uob?"

think she took lessons from colin (low).

or was it the other way round…

LOL!!!

shopping spree

Author: JT   |  Feb 3rd, 2008

had plans to shop for chinese new year clothes so my mom decided to pick me up from office after work today,

went down to orchard paragon since most of the brands i wanted could be found there.

was quite hungry so decided to settle for an early dinner at ding tai feng since we’ve never tried the food there before.

ordered “xiao long bao”, “siew mai”, pork chop fried rice, drunken chicken and a bowl of wantons in chili oil and vinegar.

the “xiao long bao” and fried rice were very good, in fact it’s much better than the ones they have at crystal jade but the others were just average.

after a satisfying meal, the shopping spree started…

-

first stop, crumpler x 4 items

crumplogo_black-copy.jpg

i bought the laptop bag that i saw on thursday when i was with mark (ng), a pouch that i really like, a small matching colour case for my camera and my mom bought a bag she set her eyes on.

luckily for us, we had 10% discount since i have the apple epic card.

total cost : around $400

pictures at the end of the post.

2nd stop, ashworth x 4 items

ashworth_logo.jpg

i actually wanted just to get a couple of new polos but my mom was in a “buy more buy more” mood so i grabbed 4 instead.

total cost : around $280

3rd stop, hush puppies x 1 item

hush-puppies-logo-in-pos.gif

bought a nice pair of shoes from hush puppies although my mom was really against it. a little tight due to my broad feet but still wearable.

total cost : $155

goldlion.jpg

3 pairs of socks from goldlion

total cost : $20

failed purchases

the original plan of this shopping trip was actually to get a new pair of sandals but couldn’t seem to be able to find anything suitable.

the new clark and ecco designs were either too awful for my taste of they couldn’t fit my board feet.

even tried teva sandals at the nearby world of sports but they couldn’t fit either.

-

i think that should be enough for the upcoming chinese new year next week.

and now, for the pictures!
